In Iranian literature and mythology, a lot of interesting stories have been recounted with regard to the cypress tree, and the way each artist deals with this subject is different and unique. The Cypress is eternal and immortal; though heavy blows might destroy it, it always finds a new way to manifest itself and thus continues to live. The cypresses of this exhibition may look vulnerable at first glance, but if destroyed, they will surely find life again. Hope is defined through the Cypress. Most of these works have been created for this exhibition, and except for a few artists who possess a different working style and atmosphere, a special focus on the cypress tree can be seen in the other works.

Cypress, Eternally Unbound has been shown at Fiuz Gallery in Kashan, Iran in November 2023. In continuation the project is being hosted by hinterland.

Zypresse, ewig ungebrochen

In der iranischen Literatur und Mythologie spielen Zypressen eine prominente Rolle. Im Rahmen dieser Ausstellung wurden verschiedene KünstlerInnen eingeladen, sich mit der Thematik auseinander zu setzen und diese zu interpretieren. Die Art und Weise wie die einzelnen KünstlerInnen in der Ausstellung mit diesem Thema umgehen, ist so unterschiedlich wie auch einzigartig. Zypressen symbolisieren Widerstandsfähigkeit und Beständigkeit. Sollten sie zerstört werden, finden sie immer wieder zum Leben zurück. Im Iran wird die Hoffnung durch die Zypresse definiert.

Cypress, Eternally Unbound wurde im November 2023 in der Fiuz Gallery in Kashan, Iran, gezeigt; 2024 reist sie weiter nach Wien / hinterland.
