Books carry meaning literally and physically – their versatility allows them to seep into all aspects of our lives – they educate, let us explore and travel, experience emotions, act as archives, transform ideas into thoughts and discussions, or simply provide leisure. They represent the points of view and the biographies of others, carry old forgotten stories and manifest historical, contemporary or fictitious events into our present. They connect people from distant times, places and cultures. Images and the written word are the oldest reservoirs of the spoken word, a medium that connects culture with the individual - they transform the abstract into the visually tangible.

Hinterland has created another space for encounter, discussion, education and connections. Offering an unique selection of publications with a keen focus on the Middle East that is freely available to all that are curious and hungry to discover!

Since 2009 there has been a constantly growing collection of publications on contemporary art: exhibition catalogues from galleries, biennial festivals and artists accounts, bundles of culture and art magazines, classics of fiction as well as theoretical writings on curation, cultural management available in several languages, among others: German, English, French, Italian, Farsi, Arabic.

In addition to various art and culture magazines, we have also subscribed to the art magazine "Canvas" since 2017, which provides the latest information from the art world of the Middle East on a quarterly basis. - click on the link to browse our online library index (via libib.app for desktop or mobile device) or visit us at hinterland and have a peek on-site.

Bücher tragen buchstäblich und physisch Bedeutung in sich– ihre Vielseitigkeit lässt sie in alle Aspekte unseres Lebens sickern – sie bilden, lassen uns entdecken und reisen, Emotionen erleben, sind Archive, wandeln Ideen in Gedanken und Diskussionen um oder sind einfacher Zeitvertreib. Bilder und das geschriebene Wort sind die ältesten Reservoire des Gesprochenen, ein Medium das Kultur mit dem Individuum verbindet - sie transformieren Abstraktes in visuell Greifbares.

Hinterland hat einen weiteren Raum für Begegnung, Diskussion, Bildung und Verbindungen geschaffen. Eine einzigartige Auswahl an Publikationen mit Fokus Nahost steht für alle Interessierten kostenlos zur Verfügung!

Seit 2009 entsteht eine stetig wachsende Sammlung an Publikationen zu Themen der zeitgenössischen Kunst: Ausstellungskataloge von Galerien, Biennalen Festivals und Künstlerinnen, Kultur- und Kunstmagazine, Klassiker der Belletristik sowie theoretische Schriften zu Kuration, Kulturmanagement in mehreren Sprachen ua. Deutsch, Englisch, Französisch, Italienisch, Farsi, Arabisch.

Zusätzlich zu diversen Kunst- und Kulturmagazinen, haben wir auch seit 2017 das Kunstmagazin „Canvas“ abonniert, dass uns vierteljährlich die neuesten Informationen aus der Kunstwelt des Nahen Osten liefert.
